My 2020 Publishing Plans

A quick update from me to let you know what’s been going on.

I went on a two-week vacation which was supposed to help me relax and recharge my batteries. But unfortunately, it had the opposite effect. I injured myself (twice) and got sick with the flu. I managed to get home and limp through Halloween excitement, but now I’m paying the price. I am forced to take a break and recover from the vacation.

It is NaNoWriMo this month and I scheduled this time to write my next book. I still plan to write as soon as I’m able, but it will spill into December. This is okay because my family plans to keep it low-key for Thanksgiving and Christmas this year, so I won’t have as many holiday preparations to worry about. This only affects people on the Witchlings Street Team who will have to wait a little longer to receive the ARC copies. I’ve given myself plenty of time to complete the book in time to publish it in January.

In case you are wondering what’s coming up, here are my publishing plans for the coming year. Most don’t have preorder links yet because my cover designer is still working on the covers. This is subject to change, but I really want to try publishing four novels next year.

2020 Publishing Schedule (Tentative)

November 25: re-release of “Midsummer Knight” and “A Midwinter Night’s Dream,” short stories from Fae of Calaveras
December 2019: a Christmas short story anthology
December 6: “Vilqa’s Gift for the Sea Goddess,” a Divine Warriors holiday story
December 13: “The Ghost on Winter Solstice,” a Wyld Magic holiday story
December 20: “Merry Witchmas, Mom,” a Santa Cruz Witch Academy holiday story
January 13: The Reluctant Witch (Santa Cruz Witch Academy #1)
April 6: Riwenne & the Electrical Prophecy (Divine Warriors #4)
2nd quarter: Third Generation Witch (Santa Cruz Witch Academy prequel, free on my mailing list)
July: The Salty Witch (Santa Cruz Witch Academy #2)
October: Riwenne & the Ethereal Apparatus (Divine Warriors #5)
January 2021: Witch Charming (Santa Cruz Witch Academy #3)

And then the plan would be to continue with the final Divine Warriors book, Riwenne & the God-Killing Machine, along with three more SCWA books in 2021. Both series have been planned for six books but I’ll see how it goes.

I regret to say that the third Wyld Magic book, The Reign of Dragons, isn’t anywhere on the schedule right now. I do plan on working on this in bits and pieces as time allows but I’m not making it a priority. A couple of reasons for this, one being that not many people seem to be reading or enjoying the books, and another being that I’m not motivated most of the time to be writing about politics. Even imaginary, fantasy politics. Real world politics are so draining right now that I want an escape. I know that there are at least a few people who are waiting for the next book, so I promise that I will get to it someday. The third book will wrap up the series so you will have a satisfying conclusion. But I think YA is my comfort zone and it seems to be what people enjoy reading from me, so that’s my main focus.

Hope you all will enjoy the books to come. Meanwhile, stay healthy. This is a nasty time of year to get sick. I keep thinking that I am getting better one day and then knocked out again the next.
