New Short Fic Release: “Witch Test”

I’ve been teasing this story for over a year, and it’s finally released. The prequel to Small Town Witch: “Witch Test“, a short story about how Rosa got her witch powers and met Dandelion!

Description:
When Rosamunde turned thirteen, she had to pass a test from the Faerie Court in order to gain the powers of a witch. But her simple test just got turned on its head when a mysterious old woman appeared and offered her a choice. Rosa can accept the old woman’s offer of forbidden power—or face deadly monsters. A human girl could never deal with magical dangers on her own, but getting help from anyone else is strictly against the rules of the test. Will Rosa risk her life to gain the magic she’s always wanted?

This short story is a prequel to Small Town Witch, book 1 of the Fae of Calaveras trilogy, and can be enjoyed at any point in the series.

The cover art is a photograph that I took in Calaveras, of a fallen tree that looked remarkably like an old man sleeping. The design on the front and inside the ebook match the new iconography for the series. You’ll also find Rosa’s symbol inside the story:

You can find this ebook in all of the usual places: my store, Amazon, Nook, Kobo, Smashwords, and Apple. I hope you enjoy it!

And in other news: I’ve just received the final edit of Witch Hunt from my editor! Now, the matching cover art for this novel isn’t anywhere near done yet. But I know you have been waiting a whole year for the sequel to come out, and I don’t want to make you wait any longer! So I’ll create a temporary photo cover . . . and release the book next week! Yes, folks, mark your calendars, because I’m calling May 9 the official release date of the book! (It’s about time.)
