Wow, this is a powerful book. I saw the Narnia parallels early but it references many other popular fantasy series as well, not in a negative way, just nice nods to some of my favorite books. But for the most part, I felt the story was unique and engrossing, by the second half I couldn’t stop turning pages!

But the ending was the most powerful part, and it made me cry. Nothing has hit me this hard in the feels, as they say, since I watched Madoka Magica (anime) a year ago. And there were definite parallels between the two (playing with time to get a better outcome, sacrificing yourself to save everyone else, etc.).

I loved this book and I think it should have a higher rating! Off to read the second, and wait for the third…
