Spring Writing Bootcamp!

Just a few days ago, the lovely ladies of YA Buccaneers announced a three-month challenge: Spring Writing Bootcamp! As the name implies, they’re focusing on several different aspects of writing to help motivate fellow writers, with a different area covered each month. In March, there are resources for planning new projects; in April, it’s all about writing itself, including Camp NaNoWriMo; and in May, they’ll answer the all important question of what comes next, like finding critique partners.

I’ve mentioned my future goals before, but I’m going to list out the next three months specifically just for this challenge. My goals won’t line up very well with the bootcamp agenda, but that’s okay. I’ll be looking to encourage other writers wherever they are in their goals.

March: finish revising Witch Hunt, book 2 of my trilogy, plus flash fiction for a collection
April: finish the first draft of Witch Gate, book 3 of the trilogy
May: I’ll need a break from the trilogy, so I can start planning a new project!

Yes, May is wide open for me right now. Well, I hope that I’ll be releasing Witch Hunt that month (which takes work of its own), but for writing, I don’t have a specific project picked out yet. It could be short stories to tie into either one of my series, or the sequel to A Flight of Marewings, or even something completely different. I’m waiting until I get closer to think about what I want to do next.

Every Friday, I’ll be posting about my progress toward my current goals. I’m also tracking these on the beta of a new site, MyWriteClub. If you join the club and want to add me as a friend, my username is kristenwalker and many of the other people in the bootcamp will be joining, too.

If you’re interested in the Bootcamp, head on over to the YA Buccaneers to check out how to join an accountability group and also win some awesome prizes. Camp NaNoWriMo is officially taking sign-ups for next month as well. If you join, good luck and have fun!
