Camp NaNoWriMo: The End

2013-Participant-Campfire-Facebook-ProfileIn all the excitement for Small Town Witch tomorrow, I haven’t stopped work on my current work in progress. In fact, this month, I participated in Camp NaNoWriMo with their new flexible word count goal. I wanted to have the encouragement of the NaNo community and the fun of writing with other writers, without the pressure of forcing myself to write too much. It was all about finding a sustainable pace that I could write through the month and beyond. I rebelled by adding words to a work already in progress.

I am happy to say that in the month of April, I was able to write over 30,000 words on Poised for Flight and I met my goal. I also made some great friends (shout out to the Word Wizard Cabin!) and received a lot of encouragement and suggestions when I hit rough patches. Best of all, I had fun! I am excited to keep writing my novel, hopefully for publication, and I hope that I can keep some of the writing compatriots that I met as well. Once again, NaNo helps to motivate me in working toward my goals with a community of writers and I am glad for having participated.

Sadly, with my plans for the rest of the year, I don’t know if I will be able to participate in any of the other NaNo events in 2013. But I know that I will be active on the NaNo forums and cheering from the sidelines when they happen.
